Course Outline:
This webinar, designed specifically for summer school staff working with international students, will equip you with the essential knowledge and tools to create a safe and inclusive environment for the students joining your summer school programme. Safeguarding should be a priority and all staff involved in the summer school provision should understand what safeguarding means in practical terms, but also what it means from a child-centred approach. This webinar will highlight the key safeguarding information required by practitioners, and also give insight into the specific needs to best safeguard international students.
Training topics will include:
- Safeguarding and your Duty of Care
- Understanding and following safeguarding policies, procedures and ensuring you follow a robust safeguarding framework
- The unique needs of international students: language barriers, cultural differences and homesickness
- Identifying and responding to a safeguarding concern.
