This webinar aims to provide practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of the admissions process and how it plays a crucial role in successfully integrating international students into their new schools. We all want to support our students in having a smooth transition into their new setting and, by focusing on a holistic, whole-school approach, this webinar will equip you with essential strategies and techniques to support these students throughout their transition journey.

Training topics will include:

  • Admissions best practice: gain insights into the key considerations and best practices involved in admitting international students, including understanding their cultural backgrounds, educational qualifications and language proficiency
  • Pre-arrival preparation: consider how best to prepare students in advance of their arrival, including communication with students and their parents, sharing relevant information and addressing any potential fears or concerns
  • Building a supportive environment: consider ways to create an inclusive and welcoming environment to foster a sense of community and belonging for all
  • Orientation and induction programmes: how do you support the orientation and familiarisation of international students on arrival?
  • Social and emotional support: understand the unique social and emotional needs of international students, identifying potential areas of concern and implementing necessary interventions.
