If EAL students are to make good progress academically, it is the responsibility of every teacher to address the needs of the EAL learner. This can be a daunting prospect for teachers who have not been trained in teaching EAL learners. This webinar seeks to give practical tips for the busy classroom teacher in how to accommodate the linguistic needs of the EAL learner so that they can fully access the curriculum alongside their classmates.

Aga Gurbin, Head of English as an Additional Language at d’Overbroeck’s College
In her role as Head of English as an Additional Language at d’Overbroeck’s College, Aga is responsible for the quality of EAL teaching in the International School and the Sixth Form. Aga is also Head of Faculty for Languages and supports Heads of Department in ensuring excellent student outcomes. She has a PhD in Humanities, an MA in English language and literature, a diploma in TEFL, a DELTA qualification and is currently pursuing an MA in International Education. Drawing on her 16 years in secondary education, language schools and universities, Aga often runs training for teachers, both at d’Overbroeck’s and across the UK. Curiosity, empathy and a joy for learning drive Aga’s passion for EAL. Her areas of specialism are curriculum design and development, teacher training and CLIL. In her spare time, she likes to read, travel and go on hikes.
