Schools in England will have received an email from DfE on Thursday (June 17, 2021) relating to the procedure for pupils returning to boarding schools from red list countries and quarantining in their schools.
This procedure is already in effect and it is anticipated that it still will be when pupils return in August/ September. This is as a result of changes to the Passenger Locator Form which took effect when the current red, amber and green list arrangements were introduced. We would like to express sincere thanks to colleagues at DfE who have worked hard to get these arrangements in place.
BSA will work with SCIS and WISC to establish the procedures for Wales and Scotland.
BSA also highlights to schools that if they are not equipped to offer quarantine under the strict conditions required by the guidance, then they must not allow pupils to travel directly from red list countries to the UK, as they cannot be accommodated in Government hotels if under 18. The red list is regularly updated and can be found here.
