Deputy Head of Boarding

We are looking to recruit an outstanding Deputy Head of Boarding to support the Head of Boarding in the development of boarding at Chase Grammar School, a leading independent day and boarding school in the West Midlands. It is an exciting period for boarding at Chase Grammar School, with a Deputy Head of Boarding now required. There are three boarding houses at Chase Grammar School and approximately 70 boarders, with a fourth house accommodating roughly 15 boarders set to open in January 2024.

The Deputy Head of Boarding will play a central role in the life of Chase Grammar School. The Deputy Head of Boarding will be expected to live on site when boarders are in residence (this includes the half-term breaks) for the proper performance of their duties. The Deputy Head of Boarding will be responsible for supporting the Head of Boarding in promoting the welfare, safety and attendance in lessons and activities for all the boarding students, acting in loco parentis.

The successful candidate will be expected to support the Head of Boarding in the development of the vibrancy of boarding life at Chase and in developing our relationships with agents and families overseas. You will be expected to live on site when boarders are in residence, including all three half-term breaks, when boarders are allowed to stay on school premises. In return, we offer a family residence, free meals whilst on duty, and generous holidays at the end of each full term.

The Deputy Head of Boarding will be part of the wider staff team, acting on behalf of the Principal and in the best interests of the School. This role would be perfect for a person with a “can do” attitude who is passionate about quality pastoral care.
