34 hours per week – Monday to Friday with 30mins lunch break

Term time only (39 weeks per annum)

Our Roman Catholic, Salesian school in the heart of Battersea is dedicated to empowering our students to reach their full potential, ensuring they are confident and prepared for the future.

We are seeking an enthusiastic teaching assistant to be our EAL Coordinator to provide pastoral care and support to students for whom English is an additional language. This role involves:

– Supporting EAL students in small groups to develop their English language skills.

– Setting high expectations to raise students’ educational achievements.

– Collaborating with colleagues to share effective practices and raise standards.

– Communicating effectively with parents or carers regarding student progress.

– Assessing and providing targeted support to help EAL students overcome learning barriers.

– Identifying students’ needs and developing individualized targets and intervention plans.

– Leading focused intervention groups on study skills, organization, emotional well-being, and motivation.

– Assisting in the identification of students for public examinations in their home languages.

– Offering additional support through a variety of activities and opportunities.


– Previous experience supporting students is essential.

– Experience with EAL students is not required; training will be provided.

– Strong literacy and numeracy skills.

– Excellent communication skills, commitment, reliability, and a calm, patient, and empathetic nature.
