Following our communication last week that the DfE had advised boarding schools in England that they could ‘plan’ for their boarding houses to be used for returning international students, further clarity was sent from the department last night in response to a question from the ISC, as follows:
Boarding houses are considered as households within DfE guidance. Therefore boarding houses can be used for quarantine purposes, so long as they comply with the Home Office guidance on quarantine.
While the above quote is not part of an official DfE guidance document, the BSA believes it is helpful for members for their forward planning, and we are grateful to ISC CEO Julie Robinson for obtaining it in response to a range of questions she submitted to the department. We will cover this note again in our next Covid update on Monday and add any additional information, if we have any to share.
