Deadline: 14 July 2024

The International Group is a unique provision for our EAL students.  International Group students are those that arrive in the English school system from abroad, with no experience of the English school system and / or English as an Additional Language. Their English proficiency varies and classes are taught cross year group on the basis of similar proficiency. A number of these students are here because their families have moved to London for work while some are here because their families have moved here from other countries for economic or political reasons. There are also unaccompanied students from refugee producing countries who are looked after.

The teaching team are constantly reflecting and sharing ideas and are aided by a Head of Department and a Pastoral Leader to encourage and facilitate this behaviour. We regularly hold CPD on their specific areas based on feedback from the team with the aim being to improve and refine subject knowledge in preparation for the additional challenges that the International students face in taking GCSE and other examinations.

The department has a long established track record of exceptional results with the International students being some of the most successful in the Academy in terms of progress.
