Annual conference

BSA / BAISIS / AEGIS Annual Conference

Marketing – Admissions – Guardianship – International

Dates: Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 March 2020

Following the launch of our new partnership with The Boarding Schools Association (BSA), we were delighted that our 2020 annual conference was held as a joint event with the BSA and The Association of Educational Guardians for International Students (AEGIS).

Events began on Tuesday 10 March 2020 at The Courthouse Hotel, 19 – 21 Great Marlborough St, London W1F 7HL with an opening address by Lord Karan Bilimoria, British Indian entrepreneur, life peer, Chancellor of the University of Birmingham, President of UKCISA and co-chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on International Students. This was followed by a conference dinner.

The conference itself took place on Wednesday 11 March 2020 at The Royal Institute of British Architects, 66 Portland Place, London W1B 1AD. over 100 delegates and 20 exhibitors joined together to enjoy a broader range of informative and inspirational speakers including:

  • Pat Moores, Director and Co-founder of UK Education Guide: What parents really want from Schools & Guardianship
  • Ruth Hughes, Director at Curious Human, Positive Psychology Consultant and expert in culture shock: Addressing culture shock using positive psychology

The conference brought together senior managers, teachers and colleagues working in UK schools’ Marketing, Admissions and International Departments plus pastoral staff and Guardianship providers, all under one roof. It provided a unique opportunity to share perspectives and network with colleagues.

Next meeting

BAISIS Dinner & Annual General Meeting

Dates: Monday 5th October 2020 and Tuesday 6th October 2020
Location: Brooke House College, 12 Leicester Road Market, Harborough, Leicestershire LE16 7AU
Cost: Free of charge (excluding accommodation)

In response to the Government’s latest guidance concerning Coronavirus, we have decided to postpone our AGM until later in the year. We hope to hold it on Tuesday 6th October at Brooke House College 12 Leicester Rd Market Harborough Leicestershire LE16 7AU with a dinner hosted by Brooke House on Monday 5th October. Following the meeting Elyse Conlon will lead a CPD session on Assessment Strategies for EAL. An agenda for the meeting will be circulated two weeks before the event.

Accommodation will be available at Travel Lodge and Three Swans Hotel. Members attending the dinner are asked to make their own booking for overnight accommodation at their own expense.

Of course, we realise this date may have to change again but please make a note in your diary and visit the website for updates nearer the time.
