Audience: Secondary school subject teachers with mixed classrooms (native English & non native English speakers)

Course Outline:

The course will explore the concepts of BIC and CALP. It will consider why students need CALP and provide resources & strategies to help students move from BICS to CALP.

Learning Outcomes:

To know more about academic language (CALP). To be able to use strategies to support students with learning CALP.

Trainer: Isabelle Delatour, English Communication Coach

Isabelle currently works as a communication coach for environmental and sustainability professionals, helping them enhance their communication skills.  She was previously an EAL specialist teacher at The Mount Mill Hill International and has 15 years’ teaching experience in the UK and overseas.
