About us

The British Association of Independent Schools with International Students’ mission is to champion support for international students.

BAISIS defines and shares best practice in academic and pastoral provision for international students in British independent schools and English medium schools globally.

Executive team

Andrew Rattue


Andrew was elected BAISIS Chairman in January 2021. Andrew has been a Head for 15 years in the UK and in Europe and has a wealth of experience in educating international students. His current role involves running a mainstream international IB World School, an independent FE college for international students, an IB teacher training institute and a summer school, all under the St Clare’s Oxford umbrella.

Sarah Bellotti

Deputy Chair

Sarah was elected BAISIS Deputy Chair in November 2020.
She started her career in education at an international school in Rome, Italy and then returned to the UK to take up a post at King’s Ely where she later became Director of King’s Ely International. Since 2014, Sarah has worked at The Mount, Mill Hill International as the founding Headteacher.

Executive Committee Member

Mark was elected to the BAISIS Executive Committee in October 2015. He is a Director of
Bishopstrow College and Padworth College.

Caroline Nixon

Caroline Nixon

Director BAISIS

Caroline was BAISIS Chairman until October 2015 and then General Secretary until 2020. She is now Director BAISIS and International Director BSA. As Caroline Nixon Education Ltd., she helps independent schools to access international opportunities.

Sue Harris

Executive Officer

Sue has been BAISIS Executive Officer since 2013 and also organises the BAISIS conference in conjunction with the BSA. Sue also works as an ELT consultant.
