About us

The British Association of Independent Schools with International Students’ mission is to champion support for international students.

BAISIS defines and shares best practice in academic and pastoral provision for international students in British independent schools and English medium schools globally.

Executive team

Stuart Higgins

BAISIS Deputy Chair

Stuart was elected BAISIS Deputy Chair in January 2022. He has spent his career in international education, both overseas and in the UK, and has a master's degree in English Language Teaching. He was Principal of an international school in the UK for many years, before moving to Hereford Cathedral School to set up an international department and re-introduce boarding.

James Kidd

Executive Committee Member

James is currently the Senior Vice Principal and DSL at DLD College London, having joined in September 2020, initially to look after the boarding aspect of the school – where over 50 nationalities live on site. In addition to managing the day-to-day operations of the school, he is responsible for the pastoral life of the school, looking after boarding, the house system, wellbeing and health care, as well as the co-curricular life of the school.

Sarah Bellotti

Chair

Sarah was elected BAISIS Chair in January 2022, having served as Deputy Chair since November 2020.
She started her career in education at an international school in Rome, Italy and then returned to the UK to take up a post at King’s Ely where she later became Director of King’s Ely International. Since 2014, Sarah has worked at The Mount, Mill Hill International as the founding Headteacher.

Bethan Hudson

Director BAISIS and Executive Director Specialist Services, BSA Group

Bethan joined the BSA team as Training Manager in September 2017. Bethan has worked in two independent boarding schools in the UK and Switzerland, the latter as Housemistress to 36 pupils. Following her time in Switzerland, she was a Pastoral Manager for an inner-city state academy before working in the charity sector for Debrett’s running the ‘Debrett’s Foundation’ training programme.

In her role, Bethan plans and manages all Day Seminars, Conferences, INSET and Consultancy, as well as being Director of BAISIS. She believes boarding can be a positive force for young people and in order to fully support their needs staff can never learn too much. As such she is passionate about the CPD BSA delivers to our pastoral communities in the UK and worldwide.

Claire Scrimgeour

Business Support Manager (Maternity Leave)

Claire is the Business Support Manager at BSA Group. Claire joined the group in 2021 and has extensive financial and administrative experience making her well-placed to support core business functions and projects across the group.

Jess Harris

Senior Business Support Executive

Jess joined BSA Group in April 2022 as a Business Support Executive, bringing with her a wealth of experience from diverse industries. With a strong background in the entertainment sector, Jess spent nine years working in various roles across cruise lines, holiday parks, and television. This period honed her skills in customer service, project management, and creative problem-solving, making her adept at navigating fast-paced environments.

In addition to her entertainment industry experience, Jess also spent time as an Administrator for a golf signage company, where she developed a keen eye for detail and further refined her administrative and organizational abilities. At BSA Group, Jess leverages her extensive experience to provide high-level support, streamline processes, and contribute to the company’s continued success. Her dynamic background and commitment to excellence make her a valuable asset to the team.

Lily Boyden

Communications Executive

Lily joined BSA Group in October 2022, as Communications Executive. Providing communication and administrative support across the group. Lily worked in the HNW financial industry for four years in the Channel Islands and UK, as Communications and Events Coordinator. Achieving her CIM Level 6 Diploma in Digital Marketing in 2022, Lily is highly organised and efficient when it comes to communicating and supporting the group.

Emily Smith

Finance and Administration Executive

Emily joined the BSA Group in March 2023 as Finance and Administration Executive. Emily has a background in finance, administration and early years education, making her well placed to support our members.

Sophie Duval

Business Support Executive

Joining BSA in August 2024, Sophie comes from a background in education, spending ten years as a primary teacher both in the UK and in New Zealand. In her previous role at an international boarding college, Sophie was in charge of admissions and compliance where she thoroughly enjoyed liaising with families, both within the UK and abroad, to support them with visa queries and settling in to the college. Sophie has also spent time in administrative roles such as a personal assistant, exams officer and receptionist; giving her a wealth of experience to bring to her role as Business Support Executive at BSA.
