About us

The British Association of Independent Schools with International Students defines and shares best practice in academic and pastoral provision for international students in British independent schools.

BAISIS supports those who provide education at different levels to international students in independent schools, colleges and study centres by:
  • Providing a meaningful network with professionals in the field of international education in the UK
  • Sharing best practice on academic and pastoral matters
  • Providing training and development relevant to the needs of staff working with international students, accredited by the BSA
  • Holding an annual conference at reduced rates for members
  • Holding termly meetings

    Schools Membership fee: £395 per annum
  • Organising BAISIS marketing events
  • Sharing agent knowledge to help with marketing and recruitment
  • Facilitating an informal recommendation system between member schools
  • Communicating updates, invitations and discounts from our partner organisations
  • Lobbying on relevant issues through membership of the All Party Parliamentary Group for International Students and the British Council International Education Advisory Group

Chairman

Julian was elected BAISIS Chairman in October 2015. He is IB Coordinator and Housemaster of the Sixth Form Boys’ House at Box Hill School, where he has worked since 2002.

Deputy Chair

Elyse was elected BAISIS Deputy Chairman in May 2019 with special responsibility for creating and delivering our CPD. She is Head of EAL at Moreton Hall.

Executive Committee Member

Mark was elected to the BAISIS Executive Committee in October 2015. He is a Director of
Bishopstrow College and Padworth College.

Caroline was BAISIS Chairman until October 2015 when she became General Secretary. As Caroline Nixon Education Ltd., she helps independent schools to access international opportunities.

Sue Harris

Executive Officer

Sue has been BAISIS Executive Officer since 2013 and also organises the BAISIS conference in conjunction with the BSA. Sue also works as an ELT consultant.
