Course Outline:
This training is designed to empower practitioners with essential tools and strategies to create a truly inclusive environment for international students. Together, delegates will explore how an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) lens can enhance your practice and provide equitable support to students from diverse cultural backgrounds. An EDI lens can be applied to academic and pastoral support and indeed across all practices and support provided to students. Join this webinar to explore how to become a catalyst for meaningful positive development within your school community.
Training topics will include:
- Understanding the unique needs of international students studying and living in British schools
- Exploring EDI frameworks and applying these to develop strategies and practices
- Developing cross-cultural communication skills to facilitate meaningful dialogue and promote intercultural understanding
- Creating an inclusive learning and home environment through incorporating global perspectives into learning and routines
- Building a strong support network to collaborate and provide support to international students.
Learning outcomes:
- Empathy and understanding for the experiences of students who come from different countries and cultures
- Confidence and strategies to facilitate and encourage intercultural engagement and understanding
- Suggestions for whole-school approaches to support international students through an EDI lens, ensuring the academic, social and emotional wellbeing of all.
