Course Outline:
Short-term international placement bring unique challenges and opportunities to UK schools, especially boarding schools. Whether students are attending for a few weeks or an entire term, it is crucial to ensure their smooth integration into the school community. This webinar will provide practitioners with practical strategies to help short-term international students quickly adapt, make meaningful connections, and thrive academically and socially. We will explore cultural considerations, strategies for fostering peer relationships, and ways to support students in managing the transition back home.
Attendees will leave with the tools to create a welcoming, inclusive environment that maximises the success of short-term placements while enriching the school community as a whole and maintaining high care standards.

Franki Quantrell, Director of Boarding, Moreton Hall School
Franki is currently the Director of Boarding and DDSL at Moreton Hall School in Shropshire as well as a member of the Senior Leadership Team. She has over 17 years of experience working in boarding, from pastoral roles within summer schools to several different Housemistress positions and now her current role overseeing all aspects of pastoral and boarding. She is the safeguarding Governor of a local all-through school. Alongside this, Franki is a keen academic with degrees from Durham, Worcester and Chester and she still teaches A-Level Mathematics. She is passionate about making school a joyful experience for all pupils and is constantly looking at new initiatives to help pupils reach their true potential.
