Course Outline:

A successful introduction to your school is key to settling in all students. For international students, schools need to not only support the settling in process within the school, but also within British culture. A successful induction should start from the point of enquiry and finish with the students helping welcome future students as a valued and included member of the school community. This webinar will provide practical considerations to ensure your induction process for international students is robust and child-focused.

Training topics:

  • Pre-arrival – preparing students for life at school and academic study expectations
  • Arrival – providing a soft landing (jet lag, diet, language, network)
  • School life – signposting, language, learning expectations, cultural expectations, community living
  • Life outside school – British culture, values and the local area

Learning outcomes:

  • Practical suggestions to improve your induction of international students
  • Recommended activities and resources to deliver a meaningful and impactful induction
  • Understanding that the induction process needs to be available and actionable year-round, and not just in September.
