Course Outline:

Language development for many of our international students is a key component of their success, but attainment and development is not just academic, and goes beyond the classroom. This webinar is designed to help all practitioners understand how pastoral teams can play a vital role in supporting individual language learning plans (ILLPs). The session will explore practical ways to embed language support into everyday interactions, extracurricular activities and boarding life, creating a language-rich environment that nurtures students academically and socially.  

Join this session to discuss how to make language development a school-wide effort, with pastoral care at the heard of supporting international students’ growth. 

Training topics will include: 

  • Introduction to ILLPs: what they are and how they can help 
  • How pastoral staff can support language learning beyond the classroom 
  • Incorporating language learning opportunities in informal settings 
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback.
