Taunton School has announced the development of a brand-new boarding facility with a capacity to host more than 140 students, with construction set to begin in March 2025 and completion anticipated in February 2027.
The new building will comprise of two boarding houses, giving the School seven in total for its senior students. This will allow boarders, including those currently studying on the main School campus and at the Taunton School International sites, to board as one no matter which academic pathway they are following or whether they are a full, weekly or flexi boarder.
As part of the development project, a bridge over Greenway Road will be constructed to link the central Taunton School site with its sport facilities to the north.
This project reinforces Taunton School’s commitment to a unified, cohesive and modern campus environment, offering another step in the School’s overall vision to become ‘One school’ with multiple academic ‘pathways.’
Head & CEO of Taunton School, James Johnson, said: “By enabling all international students to board on the main campus, we will accelerate both language acquisition and integration into British education.
“We have a long-established, global reputation for both the quality and range of our academic pathways for international students; nothing changes in this regard with the same specialist teaching on offer. The new boarding houses allow every benefit of the School’s exceptional pastoral and co-curricular programmes to be enjoyed by all students. This integrated model ensures all students, both UK and international, can live and learn as a united global community.”
